Pragito, Welcome to the Show.
1. What I love about your book is the joy, the lightness and the fun that runs through it and I'm kind of surprised by your playfulness and ease I think so many people think of meditation as a chore, a duty, that it hurts your body, that you are not quite doing it right, or getting deep enough fast enough. But your perspective is entirely different. How did you get to this place where your rule of thumb is "Be Playful, Enjoy Yourself"?
2. What I also love about your book is that you have dozens of meditation techniques from thirty second meditations to the Mystic Rose three week long meditation. Let's talk about some of those - starting with one of my favorites called "Stand on the Earth."
3. Gibberish meditation seems great - tell us what it is and where it comes from.
4. Eating awareness you say that some foods hum at you and some foods beckon you what's the difference?
5. There's a lot of humming and dancing in your meditations in what ways are sound and movement important?
6. You write about building trust in yourself, learning to trust your intuition - how do you do that?
7. You had a great quote about fear from Ernest Becker author of "Denial of Death". He said humans are 'hyper-anxious animals who constantly invent reasons for anxiety, even when there are none'. How do you suggest that people move through fear?
8. Another thing I loved about your book was your suggestion to go outside every night for five minutes - what do you get from doing that every night?
9. Tell us about your most intense three week Mystic Rose meditation?(laughter, tears, then sitting in silence)
10. Let me throw out some scenarios and have you suggest meditations for them:
a) I'm in line at the bookstore, in a rush to buy something and get to a meeting, there¹s one cashier and three people in front of me buying a huge amount of stuff I'm irritated and impatient, what do you suggest?
b) I'm being judgmental: someone is not getting to the point fast enough, or I'm noticing and being critical of how they look What do you do with judgment?
c) I feel distant from someone I love my partner of family member - what do you suggest?
11. Obstacles to meditation: Often the first voice I hear is one of irritation - here I am again, sitting down, I hate this then I get voices of anger, frustration with how my body feels, excitement, curiosity - how do you handle those obstacles?
12. What are your best suggestions for people new to meditation?
Thanks so much for talking with us today.
